Word of the Day – Hopback – a method of introducing hops to your wort.

Typically, FBC adds hops to its wort during the boiling process. This is great when seeking the bittering properties of hops, by can be inefficient when desirous of the aromatic properties of hops. The solution is a hopback, which is a sealed container, through which the hot wort passes on its way to the wort chiller. The quick exsposure of the wort to the hops, without allowance for escaping air, maximizes the infusion of the hop aroma. An example of a homemade hopback can be seen below.
